Syracuse University Creates and Experiments With Molten Lava

Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York is home to the Syracuse Lava Project, a collaboration between the school’s Art and Earth Sciences departments to create and experiment with molten lava. One video from 2013 posted by Sam Morrison features geology professor Dan Curewitz discussing the project during a lava pour, and another video posted in 2012 by YouTube user Thornton4227 demonstrates what happens when hot lava is poured over an ice block.

The Syracuse Lava Project has also been used in the past to cook steak.
