Comedian Dustin Nickerson hilariously explained that he was watching cartoons with his kids when he noticed Looney Tunes hadn’t aged very well. Nickerson explained the main characters to the audience as if he were talking to his daughter, noting how their assigned personas were more than a bit questionable, such as Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd.

There’s this bunny, and there’s this hunter who, you guessed it, also has a speech impediment. There are like eight disabilities. They’re all hilarious. And this hunter wants to kill the bunny, except for when the bunny puts on women’s clothes. And now he does not want to kill the bunny. No, he is sexually attracted to the bunny.

He also looked at Porky Pig, Speedy Gonzales, Pepé le Pew, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, and Wile E. Coyote.

First off we have a pig. His name’s Porky, and uh, his thing is he has a speech impediment…There’s this mouse, and he’s Mexican. …There’s this skunk, and he holds people against their will …There’s this coyote who wants to kill this bird. There’s this cat who wants to kill this other bird. Both that cat and that bird also have speech impediments, by the way.

Video editor David Kaylor created Rogue One: The Andor Cut, a brilliant fan edit that streamlines the continuity between the sublime Star Wars series Andor and the movie Rogue One.

‘Rogue One: The Andor Cut’ sets out to re-envision ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ as the finale and epilogue of the Andor series, as if it had been made afterwards.

Andor, which originally aired in 2022 and concluded in 2025, was a prequel to the 2016 movie Rogue One, which, in turn, was a prequel to Star Wars IV: A New Hope. Kaylor’s reinterpretation flips the main perspective from Jyn Erso to Cassian Andor, making it seem as though the series was released before the movie.

‘The Andor Cut’ is in no way attempting to replace or “one-up” the official ‘Rogue One’ film. On the contrary. It is simply a different approach to it. …There are so many moments in ‘Andor’ that are absolutely made in a way that assumes you have subsequent knowledge of what happens in ‘Rogue One’. The original version is the events of Rogue One as seen through Jyn’s perspective, and this is through Cassian’s.

A bossy, elderly white cat named Isabelle meows loudly at her human, Jenna, when she wants to go for her daily ride outside in her pink stroller. According to Jenna, Isabelle has a very screechy meow.

What started as quick 5-minute rides turned into three half-hour walks a day, sometimes even more. Otherwise, she’ll yell in her iconic screechy voice until she gets what she wants. She has sounded like she smokes two packs a day since she was a kitten. 

Jenna further explained that Isabelle is also very demanding inside the house.

It’s Isabelle’s world, and we’re all just living in it. Even when it’s not a stroller ride, it’s always something… lap snuggles, but only with mom. To watch her programs, aka cat TV.

Jenna adopted Isabelle at eight weeks old, knowing that the kitten had a chronic medical condition.

She had severe calicivirus, and they just didn’t think that she was strong enough to survive. …She definitely trusts me. When she doesn’t feel well, she comes to me. It’s like she knows that I’m trying to help her.

Bird keeper Ryan Pilgrim, who works at the Melbourne Zoo, shared how Zillie the cassowary is fed daily using a zipline that delivers fruit directly to her. The zipline is part of an enrichment program.

We’re going to be using one of the new enrichment  items that have been installed for her to give her a different option for feeding.

As he was preparing Zillie’s meal, Pilgrim explained that a cassoary eats the flesh and skin of fruit, but cannot digest seeds. This is why these birds are so important to the rainforest: the undigested seeds return to the ground, promoting new forest growth.

Cassowaries will eat a fair bit of fruit throughout the day and they will travel a fair distance as well trying to find it. So generally, the fruit that they eat, by the time they get to another part of the forest, and they’ve passed through their system, and they drop it, it’s a very long way from that parent tree. Cassowaries have been known as the rainforest gardeners, which is why they’re incredibly important to the  ecosystem, particularly in North Queensland

Art essay channel Alla Prima looked at the history of the iconic Grant Wood painting “American Gothic”, noting how this genuine reflection of farm life in the United States caused a great deal of outrage from both rural and urban sections of the country when it debuted in 1930.

When the painting debuted at the annual exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago, it sparked immediate controversy. Everyone from the East coast to the West coast, all the way to the very Iowans it portrayed had no problem letting Wood know what they thought of his work.

The painting also became a subject of social discourse in light of the events of the time.

But as the nation stood on the brink of the Great Depression and the rise of Modern Art, American Gothic found itself at the center of it all. The conversation surrounding Wood’s painting was inevitably shaped by the cultural tensions and economic uncertainty of its time and, in the end, captured a country caught between tradition and progress.

Kreuger further explained how the London pattern screwdrivers developed, the origin of the fluted handles, and how these core features evolved into the hardened plastic handle design used today.

Who thinks about a screwdriver? But if you look at the handles, well, that’s a complicated shape. And it lets you do a lot. It’s comfortable to hold, but it won’t roll off your bench. And you can turn it one-handed or use both hands. And you get a couple of different grips. That’s a good design.

That time on Star Trek when a maintenance update glitched the computer into being Australian.

In this context, the crew struggled to obtain accurate data, navigate, or even perform basic functions with the sarcastic AI, which preferred drinking, cricket, mocking the captain, and demanding smoking breaks.

The great Harrison Ford delivered an incredibly powerful and highly inspiring commencement speech for the undergraduate class of 2026 at Arizona State University, where he also received an honorary Doctorate of Arts and Humane Letters.

Ford spoke passionately about living a life of purpose and understanding that their generation has the power to address social injustice and environmental challenges because there is power in a unified voice.

Whatever talent or ambition you have, find some way to put it to work. Build something that didn’t exist yesterday. Stand up for someone who can’t stand up for themselves. Bring people together who weren’t talking before. That’s leadership. That’s what moves the needle. Your generation has far more power than you may realize, and if you harness that power, if you find your leadership, your issues, your voice, the world will not be able to ignore you. You will have to be accommodated. 

Ford also talked about recognizing opportunity and living without regrets.

When opportunity presents, recognize it. This is your time. Own it. Enjoy every second of it. Because what could be worse than getting to the end of your life and realizing that you haven’t fully lived it?

His final words to the class of 2026 were “Go Change the World”.

A tiny baby sloth, who was only four days old when her mother was killed by stray dogs, was rescued by the Funcionarios de Protección Civil Baruta in Venezuela, who found her sitting alone next to her mother’s body.

(translated) Baruta Civil Protection officials rescued this little sloth baby in Los Guayabitos. …thanks to the quick action of neighbors and PC officials, the baby was rescued and immediately transported to a veterinary center.

After being seen by the veterinarian, the baby sloth was taken to Fundación Chuwie, where the incredible team nursed her back to health.

This little girl was found in late December of 2025. …She was literally days old and weighed about half a pound. No one knew if she would make it, but day by day, she got stronger. and started exploring the world around her. …As of April 2026, this little girl has reached her goal weight of 700 g, which is about 1 and 1/2 lbs.

Once this young sloth’s weight stabilizes, she will be released back into the wild.

The goal is to get her strong enough to be reintroduced to the forest and to live the way a healthy little sloth should.

Sam Denby of Half as Interesting used the text of the Unabomber’s Manifesto to explain how forensic linguists can identify a suspect and determine where he could be found.

This manifesto is riddled with unintentional clues about its author. You can tell how old he is, where he grew up, what his education level is, and kind of his entire identity by reading in between the lines.

Denby explains that linguistic patterns in written texts serve as forensic evidence, further noting that distinctive phrases and idioms allow linguistic experts to identify authors, verify the authenticity of confessions, and uncover hidden clues in ransom notes. Tools such as Burrow’s Deta and the Jaccard Coefficient were developed to assist in forensic stylometry.

Obviously, the most common question that forensic linguistics wants to answer is who wrote this? It depends a lot on what this actually is. Is it a ransom note, a few text messages, or is it something longer? If you have a lot of text, like a book,

Grandma Stand is a wonderful place where people can sit down and talk to a grandma for free whenever they need a comforting, nonjudgmental shoulder to cry on.

At a time when the lack of connection is epidemic, wise and witty grandmothers sit behind a lemonade-style stand in NYC’s Central Park, offering heartfelt life lessons to passersby.

This self-explanatory idea came about by accident in 2012, when a distraught co-worker went into Mike Matthews‘ office in New York City to talk about a recent breakup. Matthews suggested that the co-worker call his own grandmother, Eileen, who lived 3,000 miles away in Sammamish, Washington. The co-worker thought it was odd that Matthews was giving her his grandmother’s phone number, but the pairing turned out to be a great success.

The following week, the same co-worker came bouncing into Mike’s office, shut the door and said, “Grandma Eileen is incredible. I feel lifted. I can’t explain it, but she just made me feel like everything was going to be ok.” For the next several months, a 26 year-old hipster and a 96 year-old grandma spoke every week and became best friends.

Matthews and his grandmother were happy to share their love with thousands of New Yorkers at a converted lemonade stand in Central Park. After Eileen’s death in 2018 at the age of 2018, Matthews retired the Grandma Stand. Seeing a growing need for a little grandmotherly comfort, Matthews decided to bring the stand back again in 2024.

But, one afternoon in early 2024, Mike thought about how almost every friend he had was struggling some level of disruption in their family or with job insecurity, political division, loneliness, mental health, the list went on. It was time to bring back the Grandma Stand.

This time around, he painted the stand purple (Eileen’s favorite color) and invited a rotating roster of grandmas to listen while sitting next to Eileen’s enduringly kind face.

Every week there’s a rotation of grandmas, discussion prompts and locations where the Grandma Stand pops-up. So, anybody passing by can spend a couple minutes with an anonymous, non-judgemental grandma who is there to listen.

While Matthews is based in New York City, people in other cities can reach out to nominate a Grandma Stand for their neighborhood.

Thank you for your desire to spread grandma goodness and start a stand in your city. What began in NYC in 2012 has now spread to various cities in the U.S. and the world!

Anthropologists studying modern hunter-gatherer societies have found something shocking: adults spent only 15-20 hours per week on survival activities. The rest of the time? They did whatever they wanted. And the archaeological evidence backs this up—skeletal remains show hunter-gatherers were healthier, taller, and stronger than early farmers who came after them.
